The Royal Society of Medicine is an independent, apolitical organisation, founded over 200 years ago, and is one of the largest providers of continuing medical education in the UK.
The Royal Society of Medicine is one of the largest providers of continuing medical education in the UK, a flourishing club and a provider of conference facilities in central London. It asked Sift Digital to assist them in improving the effectiveness of its web presence, both with regard to its usability for its target audience, and the online facilities it offers.
A usability review threw up weaknesses in the organisation of the current web presence, and competitor analysis suggested growing expectations among the audience for interactive capabilities. Then our digital strategy workshops, supported by thorough audience research, helped a cross-departmental working party build a new vision of the RSM web presence – and of the RSM itself - as an increasingly vibrant and relevant place capable of supporting doctors and others in the medical profession through their careers.
Unimpeded access to the core services – booking rooms, accessing the library, shop and other facilities – remains vital to the success of the site. Yet by suggesting targeted community features for networking, collaborative groups, blogs, and a greater sharing of presentations from events, the workshops were able to build on the RSM’s popularity both as a club and as a networking and educational hub for a wide range of medical professionals, from students to retired consultants.
