Blogs: REcreative: One Year On

Since its launch back in June 2011, REcreative has become a vibrant online community for young artists, generated extensive interest amongst established artists, critics and industry experts, and encouraged users to take their experiences offline.

The co-creation project we developed together with a team of young people, in association with Louis Vuitton and five partner institutions has attracted 80,000 visitors over the last year with its mixture of clear structure and branding, great community management and strong content.

Over 1,200 profiles have been created by young people from the UK and beyond, and more than 600 artistic projects uploaded. The community has produced an exceptional amount of high-quality video content, with 55 films watched more than 15,000 times.

Alongside REcreative online community, 4000 young people have taken part in 24 cross-site visits across the five partner institutions (South London Gallery, Tate, Royal Academy, Whitechapel Gallery and Hayward Gallery) in the last 12 months, demonstrating an unprecedented collaboration between arts organisations across London.

REcreative has over 60 art space contributors including Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry and Jefferson Hack and thousands have engaged with REcreative’s online community via social media channels including Twitter and Facebook.

We're very proud to have been part of this experience and to have worked with such a great team.
